A family scene is depicted with a mother showing off her baby. One woman holds a baby and the other a basket. Their flowing dresses are detailed in intricate patterns. The infant is dressed in white with gold trimming. The gentleman’s waistcoat is adorned with gold trim. The vase and fence in the background can serve as pen holders. The whole composition covers a tray which holds an inkwell and a sander each held in openings with embossed faces (emblematic of Conta Boehme inkwells). Three examples of this inkstand are shown. They were made in different sizes and with different finishes.
