This is a clear glass inkwell with a multi-faceted design and intricate cut patterns.

  • Overall Form and Material: The inkwell is made from heavy, clear glass and features a hexagonal base and body with brass fittings, and a door-knob type hinged lid.
  • Cut Glass Decoration: The entire body of the inkwell displays a series of  geometric facets.
  • The Bottom Pattern: The underside of the inkwell features a detailed pattern. It has a hexagonal outer perimeter. Within this border, there is a prominent starburst or rayed pattern, consisting of numerous radiating cuts that create a series of triangular and rectangular facets, fanning out from a central circular depression. These sharply defined cuts, characteristic of a “star-cut” pattern, are designed to refract and reflect light.
