Design Features
- Material: Deep cobalt blue glass, cut and polished to reflect light with jewel-like brilliance.
- Form: Rectangular base with symmetrical pen channels on either side—designed to cradle dip pens when not in use.
- Lid: Hinged is made of brass.
How the Blue Color Was Created
- The vivid blue hue comes from cobalt oxide, added to the molten glass during production.
- Cobalt has been used since antiquity to produce a stable, intense blue—unlike copper-based blues, which can fade or shift.
