This is an Art Deco inkstand inspired by the Egyptian Revival style that was popular during the 1920s and 1930s. The base is crafted from a veined piece of black onyx with white and grey striations. The inkstand rests on four rounded bun feet.

The central sculptural element features a cold-painted bronze figure of a woman, stylized in the Art Deco manner with elongated proportions wearing Egyptian-inspired attire. She stands gracefully, holding delicate reins that lead to two black panthers. These wild cats are also rendered in cold-painted bronze, depicted in a dynamic pose. To the left of the woman and the panthers is a cylindrical bronze inkwell with a domed lid.
