This inkwell made of spelter metal has an Egyptian Revival theme, a style popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The inkwell is shaped in a square with an Egyptian Revival motif. The front panel features a prominent relief of a pharaoh’s head with a detailed headdress. The upper border is decorated with geometric and stylized Egyptian patterns.

The inkwell has a hinged lid that opens to reveal the ink reservoir inside. A small tab at the back of the lid is present to assist in lifting it. The front of the inkwell features hooks designed to serve as a pen holder.
