Doulton Isobath inkwells were made for the pen company Thomas de La Rue and have an urn like form with a small exterior dipping well. The bottom of this inkwell is decorated with raised geometric shapes, primarily in blues and browns. The pressed glass domed lid mirrors the geometric bands on the stoneware. The funnel opening has a metal rim and lid.

The design is attributed to Emily Partington with the initials EP impressed in the base. The underside of the base is marked: Patented Sep 17 1889, Patented Reservoir Inkstand, the Isobath Thos De La Rue & Co London.
