Early and original inkwells or quill pen holders in the form of a seated greyhound on a cobalt cushion, made in Staffordshire, England, circa 1860. The blue cushion encloses the pen holder / inkwell with a small hole to dip the pen. It features a finely executed seated pose with paws crossed and with meticulous hand-painted detailing. The blue base is glazed while the orange, gold, and black details are cold painted.
