Bonzo is the well-loved English comic character created by George E. Studdy who was first seen in “The Sketch” in 1912. It wasn’t until 1922 that the lovable pooch was given the name Bonzo. BONZO is considered a breed of his own and is not recognized as a particular type or breed. He was a white, chubby dog with a droopy face, tongue hanging, and saggy skin. He had big blue sleepy eyes and expressive ears, one black ear and one white, some small black spots on his body, and a short, stubby tail.
This piece is made of Czechoslovakian glass marked on the collar. The British Registration number is impressed into the glass mold, Registration No. 719874 (dating this to 1926). The word BONZO is impressed into the back of the dog’s head.
