Cut glass inkwell with sterling silver mounts and a hinged sterling silver lid decorated with green Guilloche enamel framed in white. The neck is stamped for Birmingham (anchor and lion passant) with the date letter for 1908. The Birmingham maker’s mark is that for Levi & Salaman. The cut glass inkwell with sloped shoulders and beveled corners has a patterned cane-and-button cut base.
Guilloche enamel is a decorative technique in which a metal base is engraved with a pattern and then covered with a translucent layer of enamel. The pattern is usually created by using a lathe or an engine-turned machine.
