Cut Glass and Sterling Silver Inkwell with Pen Holder

Measuring 3 ½” diameter; 2 ⅛” high to the lid; 3 ½” high to the top of the pen holder.

The main body of the inkwell is made of thick, clear-cut glass. It has a flared, almost conical shape with a wider base that narrows towards the top with it meets the silver. The underside of the glass is decorated with a radial sunburst pattern. It is mounted with a silver collar and lid and an integrated pen holder with two curved arms. The inkwell is hallmarked for London and has the maker’s mark for John Grinsell & Son. The date letter shows 1898 as the year of manufacture.
