Description of the Cut Crystal Inkwell:
This inkwell has a rounded body made from cut crystal.
- Crystal Body: The crystal is clear and brilliant, with deeply cut facets forming a distinctive pattern. These cuts are a combination of vertical fluting, geometric shapes (diamonds or stars), and what looks like a stylized, almost feather-like design radiating upwards from the base. The inkwell was cut in the “14th Century pattern”.
- Sterling Silver Lid: The inkwell is topped with a domed sterling silver lid. At the center of the lid, there is an engraved monogram, “H.L.D.”, rendered in an ornate, old English font. Surrounding the central monogram is an embossed pattern that resembles a stylized, eight-pointed snowflake-like motif. Each of these points is bordered by a raised, curvilinear design, and within the negative spaces and on the points themselves, there are small, raised bead-like dots.
