This “Harvard Cane” cut crystal inkstand features intricate cut crystal work and sterling silver mounts with hinged lids. The inkstand has an unusual shape, possibly designed for a partner’s desk, with a pen tray that is perpendicular and situated between the two inkwells.

The term “Harvard Cane” refers to a specific pattern of cut crystal that is characterized by its intricate and detailed design. This pattern is often associated with high-quality craftsmanship.

The sterling silver mounts on the inkstand bear English hallmarks, including an Anchor (indicating Birmingham), a Lion Passant (indicating sterling silver), and a date letter “U” which corresponds to the year 1919.
