Cupid or a winged cherub emerges from a drum shaped inkwell with four dolphin feet. With one hand on his cheek, he strikes a contemplative pose. Raphael’s cherubs in his painting “Sistine Madonna” may be the inspiration for this classic pose. The image, now part of modern culture, was used on a 1995 U.S Post Office stamp.
