This brass inkstand showcases intricate craftsmanship and classical mythology. The central focal point of the inkstand is a detailed sculpture of Cupid and Psyche. Cupid, identifiable by his wings, is depicted lying with Psyche, symbolizing the union of love and the soul.
The inkstand includes two inkwells, one at each end, with lift-off lids adorned with leaves and dragonflies. The lower part of the inkstand features a prominent face-like figure below a shell-like motif, flanked by detailed engravings of dragons or serpentine creatures. These elements are surrounded by ornate scrollwork and floral patterns. Cupid and Psyche serve as a lift-off cover for a storage compartment.
