Description of this crystal inkwell adorned with sterling silver fittings:

  • Material: The main body of the inkwell is made of clear crystal glass. The lid and its associated decorative elements are crafted from sterling silver.
  • Shape and Body Decoration: The inkwell has a square base. The sides of the crystal body are fluted.
  • Sterling Silver Lid and Decoration: The inkwell is topped with a domed sterling silver lid.
    • The lid is decorated with sculpted garlands in relief.
    • A silver collar encircles the neck of the glass.
    • Attached to this collar and draping gracefully down the four sides of the inkwell are decorative silver chains or ropes, which are sculpted rather than actual loose chains. These chains feature small, stylized “tassels” or knots at their lower ends.
  • Starburst Pattern on Underside: The bottom surface of the inkwell features a deeply cut starburst pattern. This pattern consists of numerous sharply defined, radiating lines or facets emanating from a central point.
