A cartoonish and evil looking seer with pointed ears and face wearing a cape with bat-winged edge detail. There is a pen hole in the top of his head piece. Molded onto the back edge of the base: “Germany 8705”.
This inkwell is one of a series – cartoonish characters with bulbous bottoms and lift off top to reveal the ink pot. The head (top) has a hole to hold a pen. All were made in Germany.
A second example added in August 2025 was listed as a “wizard” and the maker as “Shafer & Vater”.
