A cartoonish man wearing a turban smokes a long-stemmed pipe. There is a pen hole in the top of his. Molded onto the back edge of the base are the numbers 8251.
This inkwell is one of a series – cartoonish characters with bulbous bottoms and lift off top to reveal the ink pot. The head (top) has a hole to hold a pen. All were made in Germany.
