The central part of this enameled inkstand features a domed lid with a floral knob, and the tray’s edges have a repeating pattern. Handles on either side also have blue and gold enamel designs. The enameling involves cloisonné, a technique where metal wires create compartments (cloisons) are filled with enamel. The blue and red sections exemplify this, with the enamel filling the spaces between the metal outlines. In the red enameled section, there is a figure, a boy riding a horse, surrounded by intricate patterns. The figure is centrally placed within a larger decorative motif, including floral and geometric designs.

The inkstand includes two ornate wax seals designed in the shape of lyres. Each wax seal features intricate detailing with a combination of colors including blue, white, black, red, and gold. The lyres have a decorative pattern with floral and geometric motifs, and the bases are circular with a beaded edge. The lyres have vertical lines representing strings and are adorned with various small designs such as stars and other shapes.
