An ormolu and polychrome cloisonné enamel inkwell with a profusion of foliage. It is surmounted by a cherub holding a torch and a penholder in the front. This could be attributed to Ferdinand Barbedienne (August 6, 1810 – March 21, 1892) who was a French metalworker and manufacturer.
