This French bronze inkstand is designed with a sculpted cherub wearing a tricorne and holding a mallet, flanked by two decorative timpani drums. One of the drums is an inkwell. The other holds the mechanism for a servants’ bell. There is a tall staff next to the cherub that, when pushed, activated the mechanism to ring a bell (non-functioning here). Sadly, the cherub’s left arm is missing. In the front, a decorative pen tray completes the piece.
Estimated value: $300
