This inkstand features a clear glass inkwell with an Art Deco, rectilinear design. The inkwell itself is a square block of glass, fitted with an ivory-toned lid. The inkwell sits on a rectangular base, which is also in a light, cream color. This lid and base are made of either Bakelite or celluloid. The base is simple and streamlined, with a channel running along its front edge to serve as a pen rest. It stands on four small, round brass ball feet.

Two Scottish Terrier (Scottie) dogs stand on the left side of the base. One Scottie is depicted in a light, cream color, while the other is in black. Both are made of celluloid, a versatile early plastic. They are rendered with recognizable Scottie characteristics: compact bodies, upright pointed ears, and characteristic terrier expressions. A small chain connects the two dogs.
