Buyer Be Aware! “Fine” European Porcelain Double Inkstands

Oh, the joys of modern mass production! Collect them all! You’ll notice all these examples are the same shape and size – a large area for pens, etc. and ink pots at the far ends. But, my gosh, what an array of colors and images! And you might get lucky and receive a fancy-colored plume with the inkstand!

In the early days of eBay, these “fine” porcelain inkstands out of Europe – be they “RS Prussia”, “Royal Vienna”, “Imperial” – were everywhere. Today, one doesn’t see as many of them. Maybe that’s why prices have increased. The first example (RS Prussia) is currently listed on eBay for $300.

At least one of the sellers was kind enough to leave a warning label attached: “Not for food use. Article may poison the food. For decorative purpose only”.

Got that?
