This inkwell – a cold painted bronze dachshund holding a satchel of fox cubs – is a charmer but has many indicators of a modern production.  The subject matter itself – a whimsical, engaging figural – lends itself to being a contemporary creation. And then, something never seen before suddenly appears in numbers on the internet.

There’s a certain roughness to the casting (as best one can determine from an online picture).  The hinge is overly prominent and somewhat crude. There is no insert for the well which looks unaccommodating for a standard insert.
