Buyer Be Aware! Colored Glass Inkwells
These inkwells regularly show up on eBay. They’re charming! They come in all sizes and colors! They shimmer in the light! So, what’s not to like?
These are modern productions originally coming out of India (and who knows from where now?). The metal lids are cheaply made. So is the glass for that matter. But the real complaint is some dealers are not forthright about what they’re selling.
“Vintage antique style” – let me translate for you: this piece is NOT vintage, and it’s NOT antique!
If you love it, OK, buy it. But really, wouldn’t you rather spend your money on a beautiful, bona fide antique inkwell?
