This 19th-century “Memento Mori” bronze inkstand embodies the theme of mortality. The central feature is a skull set atop crossbones, symbolizing the transient nature of life. Next to the skull is an inkwell with a hinged lid. The entire inkstand rests on a bronze base. The “Memento Mori” theme (“Remember your death”) serves as a poignant reminder of human mortality.
