A late 18th or early 19th century brass standish – probably English-made for the colonial market, circa 1780-1820. The base is oval with a deep well, sitting on its original cast brass ball feet. It holds two inkwells, both with finial-topped lids. The candle holder is in the center. The rear of the base had a hinged compartment, likely used to hold pens and quills.
