A brass standish – probably English made for the American colonial market circa 1780-1820. The base plate is scalloped and scrolled with a decorative raised lip. It rests on its original feet. The canisters are stationary. Two of the canisters are inkwells. The third was for storage – perhaps for wafers. All three have original lids with turned top finials. One of the glass ink pots is original with a bottom pontil and the other is a later 19th century replacement. Two attached candle holders complete the piece.
