This brass inkstand has a mythological theme.
- Material and Structure: The inkstand is made primarily of brass and features a rectangular base with decorative feet, from which two griffins rise. In the center, a raised platform holds a single glass inkwell.
- Inkwell: The inkwell itself is a clear glass piece, showcasing multiple geometric cuts. It is topped with a matching hinged brass lid with a finial.
- Central Embellishment: At the front of the base, there’s a detailed sculpted element featuring a classical female face with flowing hair, set within a shell-like design. This element serves as a pen rest.
- Griffins: Griffins are mythical beasts with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. In this depiction, their leonine bodies are somewhat stylized, while their heads are aquiline with open beaks, and they possess impressive, spread wings. Griffins are often depicted guarding treasures or sacred places, making them a fitting motif for a desk accessory that holds valuable ink.
