This brass inkstand holds two separate inkwells. The brass base has two square openings that fit the glass inkwells. The front of the stand is decorated with a raised, round panel depicting a Native American chief in profile wearing a full headdress. This profile is framed by a border with decorative pinecones at the corners. The inkwells are covered by two hinged lids, which are also decorated with the same repoussé profile of the Indian chief.
