Boy Lounging with Cane – Miniature
Categories | Ceramics/Porcelain Figural, Novelty |
Type | Miniature |
Material | Porcelain |
Markings | unmarked |
Manufacturer | Conta & Boehme |
Origin | Germany |
Date or Era | circa 1880 |
Measuring | 3” wide and 2” high |
This is an unusual sample of Conta & Boehme porcelain. The inkstand is tiny – 3” wide and 2” high. It depicts a boy holding a cane while lounging, and has both an inkwell and sander. It is so small a dip pen would barely fit into the inkwell. One cannot imagine it was actually used as an inkwell. Perhaps it was made as an accessory for a doll house.
Estimated value: $75
