How the Blue Color was Achieved
The vibrant blue color of the glass was achieved by adding cobalt oxide to the molten glass mixture during its production. Cobalt has long been used as a colorant in glassmaking and is known for producing a rich, consistent blue hue. This type of glass is often referred to as “cobalt glass” and was widely used in decorative items and bottles throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
