Two siblings look adoringly at their new baby brother, who is sleeping peacefully in his bassinet.  The caption in German reads Das jüngste Brüderchen (The youngest little brother). The baby is covered with a bright blue coverlet with gilt detail and the bassinet is decorated with ivy leaves. The finely rendered faces are hand painted. The top lifts revealing an inkwell and a sander.
