This desk set features an inkwell in the form of an airplane propeller, a rocker blotter, and a letter holder, all with aviation-related motifs. The set is made of a white metal and bears the K&O Co. (Kronheim & Oldenbusch) mark.

Components:

  • Inkwell (Propeller):
    • Form: The inkwell is ingeniously designed as an airplane propeller.
    • Propeller Blades: The two propeller blades are realistically depicted, with a slightly curved shape.
    • Hub: The center of the propeller, known as the hub or spinner, serves as a hinged lid for the inkwell.
    • Pen Holder: Attached to the front of the inkwell is a pen holder.
  • Rocker Blotter:
    • Form: The rocker blotter is designed in the shape of an airplane. The airplane is depicted in a stylized manner, with wings, fuselage, and tail clearly visible.
    • Rocker Design: The underside of the airplane is curved, allowing it to rock back and forth for blotting ink.
    • Detailing: The airplane features some detailing, such as the engine cowling and the cockpit.
  • Letter Holder:
    • Form: The letter holder has a shaped front panel and a back panel, creating a space for holding letters or documents.
    • Airplane Motif: The two panels of the letter holder feature a relief casting of an airplane, similar to the one on the rocker blotter.
    • Airplane Depiction: The airplane is depicted in flight, with its wings and tail clearly visible.
