This Art Nouveau cast bronze inkstand embodies the aesthetics of the period. The design is elongated and streamlined, featuring an integrated pen tray that forms the central and dominant part of the piece. This tray has slightly undulated edges, characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement’s embrace of natural forms.

The inkwell is housed in the head of a beautiful young maiden. Her face is rendered with soft, flowing lines, idealized features, and a serene expression, all hallmarks of Art Nouveau portraiture. Her hair appears to be styled in long, sweeping locks that cascade around her head and blend seamlessly into the form of the pen tray, further emphasizing the organic, fluid nature of the design. Her forehead is hinged and lifts to reveal the circular opening of the ink reservoir beneath.
