This inkwell with its pierced pewter collar is an example of French Art Nouveau style, signed by Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat. It is made of ceramic and features Dalpayrat’s distinctive glazing technique. The glaze appears to be a type of high-fire glaze.
Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat (1844–1910) was a significant figure in French art pottery, renowned for his innovative colored ceramic glazes. He worked primarily with stoneware but also with earthenware and porcelain. Dalpayrat’s glazes typically combined multiple colors, and he was known for his experimental approach to ceramics.
