Made of stamped sheet brass, this inkstand with pierced decoration has a flowing, organic form typical of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil).
Markings: the underside of the lid is stamped “D.R.G.M.” 168180. The abbreviation “D.R.G.M.” stands for “Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster”, which translates to “German Reich Registered Design”. Also on the underside of the lid: “O.E.P.” 10385. This stands for “Österreichisches Erfinder Patent”, which translates to “Austrian Inventor Patent”. The underside of the base is stamped: “Ges Gesch.” for “gesetzlich geschützt”, which translates to “legally protected”.
