The base of the inkstand has two channels for pens and is made of black onyx glass. It holds two clear glass inkwells with hinged black glass lids. Twin pen holders – one red, one black – attached to the glass base with brass swivels are made of Bakelite.
Also pictured is a second inkstand, similar to the first. It also has a rectangular black onyx base with two glass inkwells, each topped with a black pyramid-shaped lid. There are two pen holders on either side of the inkwells, one with a red holder and the other with a black holder. These pen holders have a ball-and-socket joint mechanism, allowing them to pivot and be adjusted to various angles for ergonomic use. A depression to rest pens is in the front. The underside of the inkstand has four rubber feet and two brass screws. The base measures 7 ½” long x 4 ½” deep x ½” thick. The height (to the top of the pen holders) is 3 ½”. The inkwells are 1 ⅝” square and 2” high.
