Hand painted earthenware inkstand from Nevers, France. Nevers faience was an art pottery technique in which tin glazes and decorations were applied over terracotta clay forms and fired several times in a kiln. This inkstand features yellow interlacing on a blue background with cartouches displaying French scenes. The piece bears the Montagnon faience mark.
