The Lakeside Manufacturing Company (440 W Superior St, Chicago, Ill) offered advertising / promotional products with their dial thermometers. The thermometers were sold on their own, but also could be attached to another item such as ashtrays, or, in this case, to inkwells. In assembling the thermometer, the paper face was printed with the customer’s business logo or product picture and the customer’s address.
