This double inkstand’s surface is a mosaic of “mother of pearl” on wood. The mother of pearl has been fine cut into diamond, rectangular and triangular shapes to cover the wood surface.

The wood base is cracked and a few pieces of the mother of pearl either have broken or come loose. Some pieces are chipped or have been re-glued.

The cut glass inkwells with hinged lids sit on velvet bases. There is a lidded storage compartment in the center.
