Description

  • Base: The assembly is anchored by a solid, tiered octagonal wood base, made from English oak or mahogany. The base features a beveled, stepped profile that provides a sturdy, weighted foundation for the metal assembly.
  • Stand: An ornate brass stand with four scrolling, foliate-style arms is secured to the center of the wood base.
  • Integrated Pen Rests: Two of the brass arms (positioned on the left and right) are topped with horizontal, knurled bars specifically designed to serve as integrated pen rests for dip pens.
  • Reservoir: The central feature is a heavy, diamond-cut crystal glass inkwell. The deep, geometric facets are designed to catch and refract light, a hallmark of high-quality lead crystal from the turn of the century.
  • Lid: The inkwell has an ornate hinged brass lid. The lid features a fluted, domed design and is crowned with a pineapple or acorn-style finial, common symbols of hospitality and prosperity in Victorian decor.
