Description

  • The Base: A heavy, rectangular brass plate featuring a distinctive raised geometric grid (“lattice” or “window-pane” design). The grid consists of three vertical and three horizontal rounded moldings (or “bars”).
  • Intersections: At each point where the bars cross, there is a small, raised circular node or “beaded” detail, which adds a subtle architectural feel to the piece.
  • Inkwells: Two circular, tapered brass inkwells are seated symmetrically on the left and right sides of the base.
  • Lids & Finials: The lids are domed and hinged, each topped with a simple spherical (ball) finial.
  • Inserts: The set includes its original glass inserts with a slight lip, designed to sit flush within the brass holders.
  • Construction: The underside shows the inkwell bodies are secured to the base with two large, recessed screws/bolts, typical of late 19th and early 20th-century industrial assembly.
