- Shape and Structure: The inkwell has a square-shaped body with slightly rounded edges. A prominent, dome-shaped lid sits on top, also featuring painted decoration.
- Color Palette: The dominant color on the top portion of the body and the lid is a delicate light blue. The lower portion of the body transitions to a warmer, creamy off-white or very light beige.
- Decoration – Floral Motifs: The inkwell is adorned with hand-painted floral designs. These flowers, primarily in shades of blue (possibly forget-me-nots or hydrangeas), are accompanied by green leaves and some brown/tan accents suggesting branches or stems.
- Decoration – Gold Accents: On the lid, there’s a band of ornate gold scrollwork around its base. Similar gold scrollwork or flourishes are present on the upper part of the square body, just below where the lid sits, providing a contrast to the light blue.
- Marks: Painted on the underside: “R. McF. 1902”.
