Description:
- Shape: The inkstand exhibits the characteristic capstan shape, resembling the drum of a ship’s capstan. It features a wide, stable circular base that slopes upwards to a narrower cylindrical section where the ink reservoir is housed. The domed lid further enhances this resemblance.
- Material: Sterling silver
- Engraving: The inkstand is engraved with the inscription “J.W. PHILLIPS” above “FROM” and “THE RUGELEY CRICKET CLUB”. This was a presentation gift from the cricket club to J.W. Phillips.
- Lid: It has a well-fitting, domed lid with a small lip or edge that sits neatly on the top section.
- Hallmarks: Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1909, and the maker’s mark for Samuel M Levi.
