J & F Poole of Hayle was a renowned metalworking company based in Hayle, Cornwall, England. The company was known for producing high-quality copperware and other metal goods during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their products often featured intricate designs and were highly regarded for their craftsmanship and durability.
The company was founded by brothers James and Frederick Pool in 1862, building on their father’s business established in 1848. Initially, they produced plumbing services, tinware, and tools for the local community and the Cornish mines. Over time, they expanded their product range to include decorative copperware, such as inkwells, trays, and fire screens. Their copperware was known for its hand-hammered finish, although some pieces were made using machines and then hand-finished.
