This majolica inkstand is a whimsical piece! The vibrant magenta glaze and floral decorations make it eye-catching. The central feature—a crocodile (or alligator) riding a bicycle—adds a playful touch to the rectangular pen tray.
The number “3756” on the bottom is likely a design or production number. While it’s challenging to definitively attribute this piece, it could have been made by either Frie-Onnaing or Nimy. Both manufacturers were known for their whimsical and colorful majolica pieces.
