This Art Nouveau French inkwell, crafted from Gallia metal, showcases the elegant and organic design typical of the period. The inkwell features a floral motif, with petals radiating outward from the center where the lid is located. The lid itself has a finial that complements the naturalistic style of the piece. It is embossed “Gallia Metal” with a rooster mark.
The Gallia metal pieces from the early 1900s were primarily produced by Christofle, a renowned French silversmith and tableware company. The Gallia collection was introduced around the time of the 1900 Paris World Fair and became notable for its innovative use of Gallia metal, a tin alloy.
