This gilded bronze inkstand includes an inkwell, a candle holder, a match safe with striker, and pen holder. A spear fisherman stands on his boat with a spear in hand. Reeds, trees and tree stumps around him function as the candle holder, match safe, and pen holder. The net at the back of the boat is hinged and opens to reveal the inkwell. The part of the net handing off the back of the boat is the handle for the inkwell cover. The gold reeds hold a candle. The fence in the back serves as a pen holder.
