This inkwell is a piece of trench art created from a Boer War fuse cap and fuse – a nice piece of militaria showcasing the creativity of a returning soldier.
The Second Boer War, also known as the Boer War, took place from 11 October 1899 to 31 May 1902. It was a conflict between the British Empire and the two Boer republics—the South African Republic and the Orange Free State—over the British Empire’s influence in Southern Africa.
