This patented inkwell, designed by George Betjeman (London), has a dual hinge mechanism allowing it to open from both sides (left/right or front/back), independently, oriented for a partner’s desk. The lid on the inkwell pictured is engraved “State of New Jersey 1893”. (With an 1893 date, this inkwell may have been associated with the 1893 Columbian Exposition). The glass body has a “cut cane” pattern.
